Frequently Asked Questions
What is Saymail?
Saymail is an AI-native desktop email client that unifies Gmail, Outlook, and IMAP/SMTP accounts into a single, intelligent workspace. It features transparent AI classification, bring-your-own LLM, a dockable panel workspace, and a built-in MCP server.
Does Saymail send my emails automatically?
No. Saymail never takes the wheel itself. The AI sorts your inbox and can suggest replies, but you read, edit, and click send yourself — nothing goes out without your action. Only if you connect Saymail to an external AI assistant (via the MCP server) and explicitly allow it can that assistant send on your behalf; that is off by default.
How much does Saymail cost?
Saymail itself costs €29.99 as a one-time purchase. All app features are included. AI features additionally require either a local LLM (free), your own API key from Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google (you pay them directly), or Saymail Cloud credits (purchased separately on saymail.eu).
Is there a free trial?
Yes! Saymail offers a 7-day free trial with all features. No registration or credit card required.
What AI features are included?
Saymail includes AI email classification, fully editable classification prompts (general, per-profile, per-account, and per-sender), classification feedback that tunes those prompts, the BYOLLM connector, and the MCP server. To actually run any of these, you need to connect a language model: a local one such as Ollama (free), an API key from Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google (their pricing applies), or Saymail Cloud credits.
What is BYOLLM?
Bring Your Own LLM means you connect your preferred AI provider — OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, Ollama, or any OpenAI-compatible service. You're not locked into any vendor. If you'd rather not manage keys yourself, Saymail Cloud credits offer a pay-as-you-go alternative.
What are Saymail Cloud credits?
An optional pay-as-you-go alternative to bringing your own LLM key. You buy credits on saymail.eu, and Saymail routes AI requests through providers with Zero Data Retention on your behalf. Credits are separate from the €29.99 app license.
What is the MCP server?
The Model Context Protocol server lets AI clients such as Claude Desktop or Cursor read, search, compose, and send emails on your behalf. The MCP server itself ships with Saymail, but it only works when paired with an LLM-capable client. You provide that LLM — through the client's own subscription (e.g., Claude Pro), an API key, or by pointing the client at a local model.
Is my data private?
Your email is stored locally in a SQLite database on your own computer — we never keep a copy. With a local model (Ollama) nothing leaves your machine; with a cloud AI or Saymail Cloud, only the email being classified is sent to that provider (Saymail Cloud uses Zero-Data-Retention models). Any optional diagnostics — crash reports and anonymous usage stats — can be turned off in settings.
What email providers are supported?
Gmail (via Google API), Outlook (via Microsoft Graph), and any IMAP/SMTP email provider.
Can I use it on multiple computers?
Yes — your license can be activated on up to 5 computers you own or use. You can manage your activations in Saymail's settings.
How do I get support?

What platforms are supported?
Saymail runs on Windows 10+, macOS 12+, and Linux (Ubuntu 22.04+ or equivalent).
